Is your calendar already full for 2018? Ours is! Here’s a sampling of what we’ve got going on.
The Sash Maker, a dance and poetry collaboration by Rebecca Sadowski and Naomi McIlwraith, will be performed on January 19 and 20. The performance feature poetry from McIlwraith’s kiyâm (published by AU Press in 2012).
Brian Ronaghan, editor of Alberta’s Lower Athabasca Basin, and contributor Robin Woywitka will be speaking at Science Outreach Athabasca on February 22.
In May we are headed to Regina for the annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. To celebrate, there are many events happening across the world. In March, AU Press author, Mark McCutcheon will be presenting a paper at Technologies of Frankenstein, 1818–2018 at Stevens Institute of Technology. McCutcheon’s book, The Medium Is the Monster: Canadian Adaptations of Frankenstein and the Discourse of Technology will be released in April!
The second Frankenstein celebration that we are looking forward to is Frankenreads–a series of events and initiatives taking place Halloween 2018. Athabasca University will be hosting an event. Stay tuned for details!
The 35th Annual Conference of the Sport Literature Association will be held in Kansas from June 20–23. AU Press author Angie Abdou will be there with her new edited collection Writing the Body in Motion.
